Course Description

All distances begin and finish on Magnolia Road in front of The Rex Barossa Aquatic Centre, Tanunda. The flat, fast road course winds through the Barossa’s world‑renowned wine country, taking you past rolling vineyards, historic cellar doors and open countryside. Marathon runners will enjoy six strategically placed drink stations where they can leave a personal bottle. The route is entirely on sealed roads, making it ideal for pacing and personal bests, while the scenic backdrop provides a uniquely Australian running experience.

Getting There

Parking is available at Bethany Reserve (324 Bethany Rd) and along both sides of Bethany Road. A free shuttle runs from the parking area from 6:00 am to the start line and back after the race. SARRC also provides a paid bus service from North Adelaide (MacKinnon Parade) departing at 5:30 am and 6:00 am, returning at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm and 1:45 pm. Arrive early to allow time for parking and shuttle boarding.

Weather & What to Pack

August is winter in South Australia, with early‑morning temperatures typically ranging from 5 °C to 12 °C and a chance of light rain. Expect crisp, dry conditions and sunny spells later in the day. Dress in layers – a moisture‑wicking base, a warm mid‑layer and a wind‑proof jacket are advisable. Wear a hat or headband and gloves for the start, and stay hydrated despite the cooler weather.
