Course Description

The courses start and finish at Coonawarra Memorial Park and follow the iconic rail‑trail that winds through the world‑renowned vineyards and red‑gum country of the Limestone Coast. Expect a mix of sealed limestone roads and gentle gravel sections, with rolling hills that provide a moderate challenge. The half‑marathon traces the full 21.1 km rail‑trail, while shorter runs stay on the flatter sections near the wineries. Spectators can enjoy the scenic backdrop of vines, rolling hills and historic landmarks as runners pass by.

Getting There

Coonawarra Memorial Park is located at 5‑7 Memorial Drive, Coonawarra. From Adelaide, take the A1 north to Barossa Valley Road, then follow signs to the park – about 120 km. Free on‑site parking is available. The nearest public transport is the Coonawarra bus stop (routes 830/831) with a short walk to the start. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to collect your packet and warm up.

Morning temperatures can be cool (12‑15 °C), so dress in layers and bring a lightweight jacket. Sun protection is essential – wear a hat and sunscreen, and stay hydrated with water stations along the course.

How do I register for a specific distance?

Visit the event page on RaceRoster (https://raceroster.com/events/2026/116065/coonawarra-running-festival-2026) and select the distance you want. Pay the fee online and you’ll receive a confirmation email with your packet pick‑up details.

What is the start time for each race?

The half‑marathon starts at 9:30 AM, 12.6 km at 10:00 AM, the Wobbly Winery Walk at 10:30 AM, the 6.3 km runs at 11:30 AM, and the 1 km run time is listed on the day‑of schedule. Check the official website for any updates.

Can I bring my own water bottle?

Yes. Hydration stations are placed roughly every 5 km, but you’re welcome to carry a personal bottle. The walk and shorter runs have fewer stations, so plan accordingly.

What should I wear on race day?

Dress in breathable, moisture‑wicking layers suitable for spring weather. A light jacket for the early morning, a hat, sunscreen, and good running shoes with grip for mixed road/gravel surfaces are recommended.
