Event Details
Course Description
The Federation Ultra Trail offers five distances from 5km to 54km, all starting at Monarto Safari Park before it opens to the public. Runners get exclusive access to the park's walking trails, with glimpses of resident African wildlife including giraffes, bison, chimpanzees, rhinos and meerkats. The longer 26km, 35km and 54km courses continue onto the Lavender Federation Trail and through Kinchina Conservation Park on natural dirt trail surfaces, passing beneath the Murray Bridge before finishing at Sturt Reserve on the riverfront in Murray Bridge. The shorter 5km and 10km Safari Park loops start and finish at the new Visitor Centre. Courses are largely flat with a gradual downhill grade toward the finish, making for fast, scenic trail running.
Getting There
The race starts at Monarto Safari Park Visitor Centre on Monarto Road, between Adelaide and Murray Bridge. The 26km, 35km and 54km courses finish at Sturt Reserve in Murray Bridge itself, a different town from the start, so runners on those distances should arrange transport back to Monarto for their vehicle or organise a lift. The 5km and 10km Safari Park loops start and finish at the Visitor Centre. Public transport to the venue is limited.

The cut-off time for all distances is 5:30pm.
Are there aid stations along the course?
Yes, there are multiple aid stations along the course (including Monarto Safari Park, Monarto Sporting Complex, Lavender Trail and Kinchina) stocked with Infinit hydration mix, water, lollies, fruit and salty snacks; the larger stations also have bag drop, crew access and toilets.
Can I run with a group or family?
The 5km Zoo Loop is explicitly family-friendly and suitable for walkers, and the 10km Zoo Loop is also a shorter, easier option. A 4-person relay is available for the 56km distance, with each runner completing a different leg.
Is there a registration deadline?
Registration closes on 7 August 2026. Pricing rises in tiers - Super Early Bird pricing ended 29 September 2025, Early Bird pricing ran until 13 June 2026, and Standard pricing applies from 14 June 2026 until close.
