Quick Facts
Getting There
Tarra-Bulga National Park is located approximately 2 hours east of Melbourne via the South Gippsland Highway and Grand Ridge Road. Follow signs to the Visitor Centre on Grand Ridge Road in Balook. Parking is available at the Visitor Centre and nearby designated areas - arrive early as spaces are limited, particularly for the longer distances. The park is remote, so public transport options are limited. Plan to arrive at least 30-45 minutes before your race start time for registration and warm-up.
Weather & What to Pack
April in South Gippsland brings mild autumn conditions with average temperatures ranging from 10-19°C. Morning starts can be quite cool at 7-12°C, particularly in the shaded rainforest sections, so layers are recommended. The region experiences moderate rainfall year-round, so be prepared for potentially wet and slippery trail conditions. Humidity levels are typically comfortable at 60-70%. Pack a light waterproof jacket and ensure you have adequate hydration, as even cooler temperatures require regular fluid intake during trail running. The forest canopy provides natural shade throughout most of the course.

Trail running shoes with good grip are essential, as sections may be wet or muddy. A headtorch is not required as all distances finish during daylight hours.
