Course Description
The Gumbuya World Running Festival features fully closed road courses that wind through the picturesque Victorian countryside surrounding Tynong North. The 10km and 5km routes head north from Gumbuya World Theme Park along Brew Road towards Tynong Quarry, continuing towards Mintern Road before turning back at the halfway mark. Runners will enjoy scenic rural landscapes with relatively flat terrain ideal for PB attempts. The unique feature of this race is the spectacular finish inside Gumbuya World Theme Park itself, where participants can immediately celebrate their achievement with unlimited access to Victoria's wildest theme park. The 2km Family Dash offers a shorter, beginner-friendly option perfect for getting youngsters involved in running.
Quick Facts
Getting There
Gumbuya World Theme Park is located at 2705 Princes Highway (M1), Tynong North, approximately 50 minutes south-east of Melbourne's CBD. The venue is easily accessible via the M1 motorway. Ample parking is available on-site at the theme park. Registration opens at 6:00 AM, so plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before your race start time to collect your bib, warm up, and make your way to the start line. Public transport options are limited in this rural area, so driving is recommended.
Weather & What to Pack
April in regional Victoria typically brings mild autumn conditions, perfect for running. Expect morning temperatures between 8-15°C at race start, warming to 15-20°C by mid-morning. Early starts mean cooler conditions, so dress in layers you can shed as you warm up. April can bring occasional showers, so check the forecast and pack a light waterproof jacket. The mild temperatures and lower humidity make this an ideal time of year for achieving personal bests. Stay hydrated throughout your race - water stations will be available on course with water and Tailwind Nutrition.
