Quick Facts
Getting There
Waratah is located in Tasmania's northwest, approximately 100km south of Burnie via the Murchison Highway. The Men's Shed event headquarters is in central Waratah township. Allow 90 minutes' drive from Burnie or Devonport. Limited parking is available in town - carpooling is encouraged. No public transport services this remote location. Arrive early on race morning to allow time for registration and course briefings. Remote location requires self-sufficient planning.
Weather & What to Pack
Late February brings late summer conditions to Tasmania's west coast wilderness. Expect daytime temperatures between 15-24°C, though conditions can change rapidly in the rainforest. The Tarkine region receives significant rainfall year-round, so prepare for wet, muddy trail conditions. Pack waterproof gear, moisture-wicking layers, and sun protection. High humidity is typical in the rainforest canopy. Trail conditions can be slippery on moss-covered sections. Carry more hydration than usual due to the challenging terrain and potential heat.
