Weather & What to Pack
Mid-July in Tasmania brings winter conditions with cool to cold temperatures. Expect daytime maximums around 10-13°C, though early morning starts will be considerably colder at 2-6°C. The northwest coast can experience rain, wind, and potentially frost or even light snow on higher ground. Trail conditions may be muddy and slippery, particularly in forested sections. Dress in layers with moisture-wicking base layers, a warm mid-layer, and a windproof/waterproof outer shell. Gloves and a beanie are recommended for the start. Despite the cold, you'll warm up quickly on the climbs, so ensure your layers are easily adjustable.
