About This Event
The Freycinet Circuits Trail Run is part of the Endorfun Tassie Trail Runs series, offering 11km or 29km trail running options through the spectacular Freycinet Peninsula. The shorter route visits Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach, while the full circuit includes Mt Graham and Cooks Beach. Capped at 100 participants.
Course Description
The Freycinet Circuits offer two stunning trail running options through one of Tasmania's most spectacular coastal national parks. The 11km Hazards Circuit follows the iconic Wineglass Bay track before descending to Hazards Beach, providing breathtaking coastal views throughout. The challenging 29km Mt Graham Circuit takes experienced runners on a full peninsula loop, climbing to Mt Graham's summit and visiting remote Cooks Beach. Both circuits run clockwise simultaneously, traversing rugged coastal tracks marked by cairns in sections, winding through pristine bushland, and passing multiple pristine beaches. The terrain is technical and uneven underfoot, demanding good trail running skills and navigation awareness on the longer circuit.
Quick Facts
Getting There
The race starts at the Wineglass Bay Carpark in Freycinet National Park, approximately 2.5 hours drive from Hobart via the Tasman Highway and Coles Bay Road. National park entry fees apply. Parking is available at the carpark, though arrive early as spaces fill quickly on event day. Register between 7:00-7:45 AM for the 29km start (briefing 7:45 AM) or 8:00-8:45 AM for the 11km start (briefing 8:45 AM). No public transport services the national park.
Weather & What to Pack
June is mid-winter in Tasmania, bringing cool to cold conditions to the Freycinet Peninsula. Expect temperatures between 5-12°C, with potential for strong coastal winds and rain showers. Weather can change rapidly in this exposed coastal environment. The 29km circuit requires compulsory equipment including thermal top, space blanket, waterproof jacket, warm clothes, beanie, and gloves. Even 11km runners should carry extra layers. Morning starts mean cold conditions initially, though you'll warm up on climbs. Check the forecast and prepare for all conditions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What experience do I need for the 29km circuit?
You must provide evidence of capability to complete the course in under 5.5 hours. This is for experienced trail runners only - the track is rough, technical, and marked only with cairns in sections. First-time trail runners should choose the 11km option.
What gear is compulsory for the 29km run?
You must carry: thermal top, space blanket, water (bladder or bottle), food (energy bar/gel/chocolate), head torch, phone, and roller bandage. Waterproof top, warm clothes, beanie, and gloves are strongly recommended given June's winter conditions.
How do I secure my entry?
This event is capped at approximately 200 runners and sells out months in advance. Registration opens 1 February 2026 via Webscorer. Enter early to avoid missing out - previous years have sold out within weeks of opening.
Are there aid stations on course?
Check official event information emailed after registration. Given the remote nature of the course, particularly the 29km circuit, you should carry sufficient water and nutrition to be self-sufficient between the start/finish and any aid points.
Can I walk the course?
Walkers cannot be accommodated on the 29km circuit due to the time required to complete that distance. The 11km circuit may allow walkers, but confirm with the organisers as there will be cut-off times to ensure safe course closure.
