Event Details
Course Description
Set in the stunning Sydney Harbour National Park at North Head, Manly, this triathlon features a unique 2km transition run that sets it apart from typical events. The swim takes place at Collins Beach with pristine harbour waters, followed by the signature uphill T1 run to North Fort. The bike course utilises the recently resurfaced North Scenic Drive, offering flat and fast conditions with minimal traffic and spectacular coastal views. The run course is equally flat and quick, making this an ideal race for personal bests. The picturesque parkland setting provides a traffic-free environment perfect for both newcomers and experienced triathletes looking to test themselves on consistent terrain throughout the season.
Getting There
North Fort is located at the end of North Head Scenic Drive, Manly. Drive via Military Road and follow signs to North Head. Free parking available at North Fort car park. Public transport: Take ferry to Manly Wharf, then bus 135 to North Head (limited Sunday service). Alternatively, consider cycling from Manly (approximately 4km uphill). Arrive by 5:30 AM for check-in, with transition closing at 5:50 AM. Allow 30 minutes to walk from transition to the swim start at Collins Beach.
Weather & What to Pack
February is mid-summer in Sydney with warm conditions typical for race day. Expect temperatures between 20-28°C with moderate to high humidity. The early 6:30 AM start helps avoid peak heat. Sunrise is around 6:15 AM, providing beautiful light for the swim. Sea temperature at North Head averages 22-23°C in February. The exposed headland location can be breezy, which helps with cooling during the bike and run. Apply sunscreen before the race, bring a hat for post-race, and ensure adequate hydration from the night before. The club provides refreshments at the finish.
