Weather & What to Pack

Late May in Port Stephens offers ideal autumn racing conditions with average temperatures ranging from 12-20°C. Mornings start cool and crisp, perfect for racing, with gentle warming through the day. The ocean temperature typically sits around 19-21°C, comfortable for most athletes without a wetsuit though neoprene is popular. Expect low humidity and excellent visibility, with minimal chance of summer storms. Sunrise occurs around 6:45 AM, providing good natural light for all wave starts. Pack sun protection despite the cooler weather, as UV levels remain moderate. Light race kit is suitable, with a warm layer for post-race. The coastal location can bring breezes, so check wind forecasts for bike preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I register on race day?

Optional registration is available Friday 3-5 PM at the Registration Tent. Saturday race day registration opens from 6:45 AM depending on your wave start time. However, early online registration is strongly recommended to secure your spot and take advantage of early bird pricing available until 27 February.

Is wetsuit hire available?

Stay for the full Port Stephens weekend experience with local beaches, dining and attractions nearby.
