Course Description

Triathlon Huskisson is staged at White Sands Park on the shores of Jervis Bay. All swim legs start and finish on the beach in the bay's sheltered, usually calm waters. The Standard and Aquabike bike courses run a two-lap out-and-back along Woollamia Road; the Sprint and Super Sprint use a shorter version of the same route. Run legs head south along the footpath past Huskisson Beach, crossing the Moona Moona Creek bridge before turning back into White Sands Park. The Standard distance (1.5km swim / 40km bike / 10km run) is the festival's showcase event, with Aquabike offering the same swim and bike without the run. Sprint (750m/20km/5km) and Super Sprint (200m/8km/2km) suit newer athletes, while the TriKidz Aquathon gives children three age-graded swim-run distances on the same beach.

Getting There

Triathlon Huskisson is based at White Sands Park, Huskisson, in the Jervis Bay area of the NSW South Coast. Race HQ and registration are at the marquee on Owen Street, with transition set up nearby. Road closures apply around the course on race morning - check the event's road closures page before driving in. Allow extra time to park and reach registration ahead of your race's scheduled start.

Weather & What to Pack

Triathlon Huskisson runs in early November, spring on the NSW South Coast. Expect daytime temperatures around 17-24°C, with mornings noticeably cooler - useful to know given the earliest wave (Super Sprint) starts at 6:30am. Jervis Bay's ocean swim water is typically still cool at this time of year, so a wetsuit is worth considering. Onshore breezes are common through the morning; conditions are usually mild but can change quickly on the coast, so check the forecast and dress in layers for the drive down.

Frequently Asked Questions

What distances are offered at Triathlon Huskisson?

Five race categories: Standard (1.5km swim / 40km bike / 10km run), Aquabike Std (1.5km swim / 40km bike, no run), Sprint (750m swim / 20km bike / 5km run), Super Sprint (200m swim / 8km bike / 2km run), and the TriKidz Aquathon, which has three age-graded swim-run distances for children aged 5 to 11.

What time do the races start?

Super Sprint starts first at 6:30am, followed by Standard and Aquabike at 7:30am, Sprint at 10:30am, and the TriKidz Aquathon age groups from 1:30pm to 2:00pm. Registration and transition open earlier for each wave - check the event schedule for exact times.

Where is the swim held?

All swim legs start and finish on the beach at White Sands Park in Jervis Bay. The bay is a protected ocean swim, usually with calm water and only a small shorebreak.

Is the Husky Running Festival part of this event?

Run Huskisson is a separate running festival held the day before (Saturday 31 October 2026) as part of the same race weekend, but it is a distinct event with its own entries and results.

Can I do the Aquabike option if I can't run?

Yes. Aquabike (Std) covers the same 1.5km swim and 40km bike as the Standard distance but finishes after the bike leg, with no running component - a good option for athletes managing an injury or easing back into racing.
