Course Description

The Yurrebilla Ultra traverses the western face of the Adelaide Hills, winding through Belair National Park, Cleland Conservation Park and the picturesque gorges of the Yurrebilla Trail. Runners start at Belair Train Station (56km), Coach Road (28km) or Montacute Road (14km) and follow a mix of well‑maintained forest tracks, steep climbs and technical single‑track sections. Aid stations are spaced roughly every 5‑10 km, offering water, fruit and hearty snacks. Highlights include McElligott’s Quarry, the lush Cleland forest, and the dramatic Ghost Tree Gully descent. The course is fully supported with first‑aid, toilets, and a post‑race celebration at Foxfield Oval.

Getting There

The 56km start is at the Conservation Park entrance at Belair Train Station, Sheoak Road, Belair. Runners can take a train to Belair or use the free shuttle bus from Foxfield Oval (88 Maryvale Rd, Athelstone) which also serves the 28km and 14km starts. Parking at the 14km start is limited, so the bus is compulsory for that distance. Arrive early to collect your bib and join the pre‑race briefing.

Weather & What to Pack

September is spring in South Australia, bringing mild days and cool mornings. Expect daytime temperatures between 15 °C and 22 °C, with early‑morning lows around 8 °C to 12 °C. Light to moderate sunshine is common, and humidity is low. Dress in layers – a moisture‑wicking base, a light jacket for the chill, and a hat or visor for sun protection. Carry enough water between aid stations and consider a waterproof top in case of an unexpected shower.
