Course Description
The 14 km City2Surf course launches at the intersection of Park Street and College Street in Hyde Park. Runners head downhill on William Street, tunnel through Kings Cross, then follow New South Head Road past Rose Bay. At the halfway mark they tackle the famous Heartbreak Hill, climb up Vaucluse, and descend Old South Head Road with spectacular harbour views. A turnaround at Curlewis Street leads back down Military Road to the finish line on Queen Elizabeth Drive at Bondi Beach. The route is mostly road‑based with a few challenging climbs, offering both city scenery and coastal vistas.
Getting There
The race starts in Hyde Park, right in Sydney’s CBD, and finishes at Bondi Beach. Public transport is integrated with entry – use trains to Central Station and buses to the park, or take the Bondi Junction line and local buses to the beach. Arrive early to collect your bib at the City2Surf Expo and warm up. For detailed parking and transport information, visit the official website.
Weather & What to Pack
August is winter in Sydney, with typical daytime temperatures between 8 °C and 16 °C and occasional light rain. Expect cool, crisp mornings and milder afternoons. Dress in layers – a moisture‑wicking base, warm mid‑layer and a lightweight waterproof jacket. A hat and gloves are optional. Stay hydrated even in cooler weather and consider a warm drink post‑race.
