Course Description

The Voltaren City2Surf starts at the intersection of Park Street and College Street by Hyde Park, dropping downhill along William Street and through the Kings Cross Tunnel before joining New South Head Road through Rose Bay. At the halfway mark runners face the famous Heartbreak Hill, the course's toughest and most iconic climb, before turning at Vaucluse onto Old South Head Road and Military Road. From there it's downhill with sweeping ocean views to a turnaround at Curlewis Street and the finish on Queen Elizabeth Drive at Bondi Beach. The 14km route runs on closed public roads and is sealed bitumen throughout, with aid stations offering water, sports drink, toilets and first aid along the way.

Getting There

The race starts near Hyde Park at the corner of Park and College Streets in the Sydney CBD. Entry includes integrated public transport on race day, so trains and buses to the city are the easiest way in. Roads along the course are closed for the event, so driving to the start or finish is not recommended. Allow extra time for the crowds around Hyde Park before the 7:35am elite start.

Weather & What to Pack

August in Sydney is winter, with average daytime temperatures around 19°C and overnight lows of 10°C. Light clothing is suitable, but layers are recommended for cooler mornings. Stay hydrated and apply sunscreen, as UV levels can still be high.
