Event Details
Course Description
The 64 km ultra‑marathon begins at Dennes Point and follows a rolling loop of sealed bitumen and quiet dirt roads that wind through Bruny Island’s rolling hills, coastal cliffs and farmland before ending at the historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse. The 42.2 km marathon shares the same start but finishes at the Bruny Pub Hotel in Alonnah, giving runners a scenic finish with views over the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. Along the route runners will pass the 40 km change‑over marker where water bottles can be refilled, and a drink station at the Hotel. The course is well marked, with relay change‑over points every 2 km, and public toilets are available at the start, Alonnah community centre, Lunawanna Hall and the Rangers hut at Cloudy Bay. Expect a mix of gentle climbs, open coastal sections and shaded forest tracks.

Weather & What to Pack
Late spring in Tasmania brings mild to warm days with occasional showers. Expect daytime highs of 15‑22 °C and cooler mornings around 10‑13 °C. Light rain is possible, so pack a waterproof jacket and quick‑dry layers. Sun protection, a hat and sunscreen are essential, and stay hydrated with water and electrolytes throughout the race. Evenings may drop to 8‑12 °C, so bring an extra layer for the post‑race celebration. Humidity is generally moderate, and coastal breezes can make the exposed sections feel cooler.

Runners must wear light‑coloured clothing for visibility, must not wear headphones or earbuds, and must carry sufficient water. Drink stations are available at the 40 km marker and at the lighthouse finish. A waterproof jacket and layers are recommended for spring weather.
How are relay change‑overs organised?
Relay legs are approximately 2 km each. Change‑overs must occur at the marked 2 km points on the right‑hand side of the road. Vehicles should stop safely, and runners must be well off the road while swapping.
What is the entry fee and are there discounts?
Solo entry fees are $95 for the marathon and $115 for the ultra‑marathon. AURA members receive discounted rates of $75 (marathon) and $90 (ultra). Relay teams pay $55 (marathon) or $60 (ultra). Check the official website for any updates and the current registration deadline.
