Event Details
Course Description
The Point to Pinnacle course launches from Wrest Point Car Park, follows Sandy Bay Road, then turns left onto Byron Street and Davey Street. The road becomes Huon Road, winding up to the Southern Outlet and then Pillinger Drive, before the final ascent to Mount Wellington’s summit. Runners face 1,271 m of elevation gain over 21.1 km, with sweeping harbour views, native bushland, and open alpine terrain. The 10 km Point to Pub route shares the same start, diverging at the Fern Tree Tavern for a shorter, 426 m climb. Both courses are fully road‑surface, well‑marked, and feature multiple aid stations.
Getting There
From Hobart CBD, head south on the Tasman Highway (A3) toward the Wrest Point Casino. The car park is on Sandy Bay Road with limited on‑site parking (pay‑and‑display). Free street parking is available on nearby streets but fills quickly. Public buses run to the Sandy Bay stop; a short walk brings you to the start line. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to collect your bib and warm up.
Weather & What to Pack
November is spring in Tasmania, with daytime highs around 19 °C and overnight lows near 10 °C. Expect mild sunshine, occasional light showers and moderate humidity. Dress in layers – a breathable base, a light jacket, and a hat or gloves for the summit’s cooler wind. Carry a water bottle; hydration stations are provided, but the cooler weather means you won’t need as much fluid as in summer.
