Event Details
Course Description
Runners start at the iconic Cascade Brewery Bar, then follow the gentle uphill of Cascade Track into open woodlands and rainforest gullies. The route reaches the main fire‑break trail, offering rolling hills before heading back toward the city. The Enduro and Sport courses tackle the Slides Track’s classic switchbacks, McRobies Gully and the Jurassic Shark mountain‑bike track, before returning along the ridgeline above the brewery. The Explorer course provides a shorter, single‑track loop with a steep climb, a fast descent, and a crossing of Old Farm Road to the Golden Gully ridgeline. Scenic bush, historic sites and Halloween atmosphere make it a memorable day out.
Getting There
The event hub is at the Cascade Brewery Bar on Hobart's waterfront. There is limited on‑site parking (free for event participants) and paid public parking nearby on Argyle Street. Trams and buses run regularly from Hobart CBD to the brewery; alight at the 'Cascade Brewery' stop. Arrive by 1:30 PM to collect your bib and enjoy the pre‑run BBQ.
Weather & What to Pack
October is spring in Tasmania, with daytime highs around 18 °C and overnight lows near 8 °C. Expect cool, crisp mornings and mild afternoons, with occasional light rain (annual average 565 mm). Dress in layers – a breathable base, insulated mid‑layer and a waterproof jacket. A hat, gloves and sturdy trail shoes are advisable, and carry a small water bottle as temperatures can fluctuate.
