Event Details
Course Description
On race day participants will gather at the transition area at 7:00 am, receive a secret map and a compass, then set off on a mixed‑terrain adventure. The run leg weaves through eucalyptus forest and along gravel paths for 5‑7 km, followed by a 10‑12 km mountain‑bike segment on fire‑trails and open tracks. The final leg is a 2.5 km paddle across Lysterfield Lake in supplied double‑sit‑on kayaks. Check‑points are hidden throughout, encouraging navigation skills while the lake’s calm waters provide a refreshing finish. The course is designed to be challenging yet approachable, with plenty of scenic views and support zones.
Getting There
Lysterfield Lake Park is about 45 km southeast of Melbourne CBD. From the city, take the M3 east to the Maroondah Highway, then follow signs to Lysterfield Lake. Free on‑site parking is available near the main entrance. Public transport options include the 766 bus from Ringwood Station to Lysterfield; allow at least 30 minutes travel time and arrive by 8:30 am for the 9:00 am start.
Weather & What to Pack
November is spring in Victoria, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 15 °C to 25 °C and occasional light showers. Expect mild humidity and plenty of sunshine between clouds. Dress in quick‑dry layers, bring a packable jacket for cooler mornings, and wear a hat and sunscreen. Hydration is essential – carry a water bottle and consider electrolyte drinks, especially if the day turns warm.
