Course Description

The Cooks River Fun Run showcases Sydney's Inner West along the scenic Bay to Bay Cycleway, running from Freshwater Park to Ford Park. All distances feature a flat, fast course that follows paved paths adjacent to the Cooks River, making it ideal for personal bests and first-time racers alike. The 10km and 5km routes offer continuous river views and easy running surfaces, whilst the 2km Family Dash provides a perfect introduction to running events for youngsters. The course includes one managed road crossing at Morgan Place, staffed by accredited traffic controllers. Participants should note that the shared pathway will have other pedestrians and cyclists, requiring awareness throughout the event. The flat terrain and riverside scenery create a welcoming atmosphere for runners of all abilities.

Getting There

Freshwater Park is located on Ada Avenue in Strathfield, approximately 12km west of Sydney CBD. Street parking is available on Wilson Street, Ada Avenue, and surrounding residential streets - please respect local residents and avoid blocking driveways. Public transport users can catch Bus 483 between the CBD and Strathfield, with the closest stop just 200m from the park entrance. The event village opens at 7:00 AM for registration and bib collection, so plan to arrive by 7:30 AM for a relaxed race-day experience.

What does my entry fee include?

All finishers receive a themed medal, post-race snacks, sponsor giveaways, and a finisher's certificate. The event is professionally chip-timed by Multisport Australia. Bibs are printed three weeks before race day and can be posted if you register early enough.

Can parents run with children in the 2km Family Dash?

Yes! The 2km Family Dash is designed for youngsters with the option for an accompanying adult to run alongside for an additional $10. Register your child first, then add an accompanying adult bib during registration. Note that accompanying adults won't be timed or receive a finisher's medal.

What are the cut-off times?

The 5km has a 1-hour cut-off time, whilst the 10km allows 1 hour and 45 minutes. These generous time limits accommodate walkers and first-time participants whilst ensuring the course can be safely cleared.

Will there be other people on the course?

Yes, the Bay to Bay Cycleway is a shared public pathway. You'll encounter pedestrians, cyclists, and dogs during the race. For safety, it's recommended not to use earphones and to stay alert to your surroundings throughout the event.

When will I receive my race bib?

Bibs are printed three weeks before race day. To have your name printed on your bib, register at least three weeks out. If you'd like your bib posted, register at least two weeks before the event. Otherwise, collect your bib on race morning from 7:00 AM at the event village.
