Course Description
This spectacular rainforest trail run takes you through World Heritage Area Wet Tropics Rainforest in Barron Gorge National Park. All courses follow the traditional Djabugay pathways along the Djina Wu track, with the premier 17km route encompassing Smiths Track's flowing downhill sections, Yalbogie Track past the spectacular Kauris, two Stoney Creek crossings, Toby's Lookout, and a side trip to Glacier Rock. The 8km and 4km courses offer shorter adventures through dense shady trails, cool clear creeks, and challenging climbs. Expect calf-bursting ascents rewarded with long flowing descents, all while surrounded by lush tropical rainforest teeming with wildlife including tree kangaroos, cassowaries, and amethystine pythons.
Quick Facts

Parking is available at the campground. Arrive by 6:45 AM for check-in, with briefings from 7:15 AM. Mobile phone coverage is unreliable except at higher elevations.
Weather & What to Pack
Early June in tropical North Queensland brings mild, dry conditions during winter. Expect morning temperatures around 15-18°C, warming to 22-25°C by mid-morning. The rainforest canopy provides natural shade and cooling, but humidity can still be present. Pack sun protection for exposed sections, wear moisture-wicking clothing suitable for both climbs and creek crossings, and bring adequate hydration as water is not available on course (except natural creek sources on the 17km route). A lightweight rain jacket is recommended as tropical showers can occur unexpectedly.
