Course Description
The BMA Mackay Marina Run showcases Queensland's most scenic running course, set against stunning blue waters and sub-tropical scenery at Mackay Harbour. The signature half marathon course is renowned for being flat and fast, making it ideal for PB attempts and scheduled strategically four weeks before the Gold Coast Marathon. Starting on the picturesque Mackay Marina Breakwater near the yacht club, runners follow a coastal route that highlights the spectacular features of this tropical coastal city. The course winds through Queens Park, along East Point Road, and features the iconic marina wall section. All distances finish at the boat ramp end of Mackay Marina Village on Mulherin Drive, creating a festival atmosphere with views of sandy beaches and the blue water river.

Weather & What to Pack
Early June in Mackay typically offers pristine tropical conditions with mild temperatures ranging from 13-24°C. Morning starts feature cooler conditions perfect for running, though humidity can be moderate given the coastal location. Expect mostly dry weather with low rainfall probability. The sub-tropical climate means runners should prepare for potential warmth as the morning progresses. Wear light, breathable clothing and apply sunscreen liberally. Hydration is crucial - take advantage of all water stations. The early 6:30 AM start for the half marathon maximises cooler conditions.
