Course Description

Set within the spectacular Sydney Harbour National Park at North Head, this triathlon offers breathtaking coastal views with minimal traffic disruption. The swim takes place in the sheltered waters of Collins Beach, followed by a unique 2km transition run up to North Fort. The bike course utilises the recently resurfaced North Scenic Drive, providing a flat and fast ride along the headland. The run course completes the event on similarly flat terrain, making it ideal for personal bests. The entire course showcases the natural beauty of Sydney's Northern Beaches, with the Pacific Ocean and harbour vistas providing stunning scenery throughout. Note that all competitors must walk approximately 30 minutes from transition down to the swim start before the race begins.

Getting There

North Fort is located at North Head in Manly, accessible via Scenic Drive. Drive to the North Fort car park within Sydney Harbour National Park. Public transport users can catch buses to Manly, then arrange car-pooling or taxi to North Head (limited bus service). Parking is available at North Fort, but arrive early as spaces are limited. Aim to arrive by 5:30 AM for check-in, with transition closing at 5:50 AM. Allow 30 minutes to walk from transition to the swim start at Collins Beach.

Weather & What to Pack

Early March in Sydney offers pleasant late-summer conditions, with average temperatures ranging from 19-26°C. Expect warm, humid mornings with the race starting at 6:30 AM in cooler temperatures. The coastal location at North Head can be breezy, particularly during the bike leg. Sun protection is essential - apply waterproof sunscreen before the swim. The ocean temperature will be around 22-24°C, comfortable for most swimmers without a wetsuit. Bring a hat and sunglasses for post-swim legs. Hydration is crucial; drink plenty before and after the event.
