Event Details
Course Description
The SA Track Ultra is run entirely on the synthetic all-weather track at SA Athletics Stadium (formerly Santos Stadium) in Mile End, promoted as South Australia's flattest ultra marathon. Runners choose from a Kid's Dash, 21.1km, 30km, 42.2km, 50km, 50 miles, 100km or 100 miles, with a mass start at 10am Saturday and a 2pm Sunday cut-off for every distance except the 24-hour race. Being a repeating lap course, aid is available every 400m, removing the logistics of a point-to-point ultra so runners can focus purely on pace. The stadium has previously hosted national 50km and 100km track championships, and the event is IAU Labelled and AUTRA Listed, giving it genuine standing on Australia's ultra-running calendar.
Getting There
SA Athletics Stadium (formerly Santos Stadium) is in Mile End, a few kilometres west of the Adelaide CBD. As this is a 28-hour event running from Saturday morning through to Sunday afternoon, spectators and support crews should plan flexible arrival and departure times. Specific parking and public transport details aren't published in the race information, so check the official SA Track Ultra site closer to the day.
Weather & What to Pack
October marks spring in Adelaide, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from around 12°C to 22°C, though conditions can be changeable. Because the event runs overnight into Sunday afternoon, temperatures can drop into single digits after dark, so runners should pack warm layers for the cooler hours. Organisers monitor the Bureau of Meteorology forecast and will reschedule the event if a temperature above 35°C is predicted, so check for updates closer to race day. Sun protection and hydration remain important during the daytime hours.
