Weather & What to Pack

Late August in Devonport brings cool winter conditions with evening temperatures typically ranging from 5-12°C. As this is an evening event starting at 7:00 PM, expect crisp, potentially windy conditions along the exposed coastal route. Dress in layers with a windproof outer jacket that you can remove if needed. The coastal location can bring sudden weather changes, so check forecasts and be prepared for possible rain or wind. Whilst cooler temperatures reduce overheating risk, don't neglect hydration. The glow-in-the-dark theme means you'll likely wear bright clothing, but ensure you have adequate warmth underneath your neon gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear for the glow run?

Wear bright, neon-coloured clothing and bring glow sticks or LED accessories to embrace the theme. However, ensure you dress warmly underneath as August evenings in Devonport are cold (5-12°C). Layer up with thermal gear and a windproof jacket. You can purchase glow accessories at the event or bring your own.

Is this event suitable for children and families?

Absolutely! The Light Night Glow Run is designed as a family-friendly event with specific kids distances (2km and 600m dash) alongside the adult 4km and 8km options. Children of all ages are welcome, and the fun, music-filled atmosphere makes it an exciting introduction to running events.

Can I walk the course instead of running?

Yes, walkers are very welcome at all distances. The event emphasises fun and community participation over competitive racing, making it perfect for those who prefer to walk or take a leisurely pace whilst enjoying the glowing spectacle.

Where does the $5 charity donation go?

For every 4km and 8km registration, $5 is donated to a local charity selected by the event's major sponsor, St Lukes. This adds a meaningful community giving element to your participation.

What happens after the race?

The event concludes with an epic after-party under the stars at the Bluff precinct. Expect music, celebration, and plenty of glowing atmosphere as the community comes together to celebrate the achievement and enjoy the festive vibe.
