Course Description
Set in the stunning Warburton Valley, this festival showcases some of Victoria's most beautiful trail running terrain. The courses wind through towering redwood forests, alongside the Yarra River, and across fern-fringed singletrack trails. The 50km Lumberjack ultra tackles the valley's most challenging climbs and descents, while the 27km Redwoods Rush offers a perfect introduction to trail running through majestic forest sections. The 22km Donna Double, part of the Golden Trail National Series, combines technical terrain with breathtaking valley views. Night runners on Little Joe's Night Terror navigate trails by headlamp, finishing at the Alpine Retreat Hotel. The unique 3km Lilo Derby takes participants down the Yarra River on inflatable lilos, adding a refreshing twist to the weekend.
Quick Facts
Getting There
Warburton is located approximately 90 minutes east of Melbourne CBD along the Warburton Highway. Follow the Maroondah Highway through Lilydale and Healesville, then continue on the Warburton Highway. The Recreation Oval is on the main highway through town at 3455-3457 Warburton Highway. Parking is available at the venue and surrounding streets. Arrive early on race day as parking fills quickly, particularly for the Saturday morning start. Public transport options are limited, so carpooling is recommended.
Weather & What to Pack
March in Warburton typically brings mild autumn weather with average daytime temperatures ranging from 15-25°C. Mornings can be cool (8-12°C), particularly in the shaded forest sections and for the night run. The valley location means conditions can be humid, and sudden weather changes are possible in the mountains. Pack layers for varying temperatures throughout the day. The 50km ultra runners should prepare for all conditions as they'll be on course for several hours. Sunscreen is essential for exposed sections, while a light waterproof jacket is recommended. Stay well-hydrated despite the cooler temperatures.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I enter multiple events across the weekend?
Absolutely! The Multiday Madness (80km total) and Multiday Magic (52km total) packages are designed for runners wanting to tackle multiple events. You can also enter individual events separately if you prefer to choose your own combination.
What is the Lilo Derby and do I need to bring my own lilo?
The 3km Lilo Derby is a unique inflatable race down the Yarra River on Monday morning. You'll need to bring your own lilo (inflatable pool lounger). It's a fun, lighthearted way to finish the festival weekend and is included in both multiday packages.
Is accommodation available in Warburton?
Accommodation is limited during the March long weekend. Options include AirBnB, Stayz, and the Alpine Retreat Hotel. The event also offers fundraising camp accommodation at Warburton Primary School on the sports oval. Book early as accommodation sells out quickly.
What is the refund and transfer policy?
Refunds (less admin fee) are available only until midnight 6 February 2026. After this date, no refunds or transfers to future events are offered. You can transfer your entry to another person at any time before the event.
