Parking is available at the recreation oval and surrounding areas. Public transport options are limited, so driving or carpooling is recommended. Arrive early on race morning to allow time for parking and final preparations.
Weather & What to Pack
March in Warburton typically brings mild to warm conditions with average temperatures ranging from 12-24°C. The valley location can create cooler microclimates, particularly during early morning starts and the night run. Be prepared for variable conditions—mountain weather can change quickly. Morning runners should dress in layers that can be removed as temperatures rise. The night run requires a headtorch and possibly a light jacket. March is generally drier than winter months, though occasional showers are possible. Hydration is crucial, especially for longer distances and the multiday challenges. Sun protection is essential during daytime events.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I enter multiple events across the weekend?
Absolutely! You can choose individual events à la carte, or commit to Multiday Madness (80km total) or Multiday Magic (52km total) packages. The multiday options include multiple races plus the Lilo Derby and offer better value than entering separately.
What is the Lilo Derby and do I need to bring my own lilo?
The Lilo Derby is a unique 3km float down the Yarra River on an inflatable lilo (air mattress). Yes, bring your own lilo! It's a fun, lighthearted event that caps off the festival. Multiday Magic participants face a 60-minute penalty if they skip it, so best pack those water wings!
Is accommodation available in Warburton?
Accommodation is limited during the March Labour Day long weekend. Book early through AirBnB, Stayz, or the Alpine Retreat Hotel. The event also offers fundraising camp accommodation at Warburton Primary School sports oval with 360-degree mountain views—book through a separate page on the website.
What are the cutoff times and course markings?
Check the event website for specific cutoff times for each distance. Courses are marked with trail flagging and signage. The 22km Donna Double is a Golden Trail National Series qualifier, so expect professional course setup. First-time trail runners should consider the Redwoods Rush, specifically designed as an introduction to trail running.
What's included in my entry fee?
Entry includes your race bib, course marking and support, aid stations, finisher medal, post-race recovery area with massage services available (by Zenith Osteopathy), food vendors on-site including vegan options, and access to off-trail activities like film screenings and seminars. You'll also receive discount codes for Salomon (20%), Tailwind Nutrition (15%), and T8 Run Gear (15%).
