Inaugural running festival along the scenic Murrumbidgee River. Mostly flat, tree-lined course through lush parklands, Victory Gardens and finishing at Wagga Beach. For runners of all abilities. Part of three-year agreement between Elite Energy Events and Wagga Wagga City Council.
Course Description
Run Wagga Wagga showcases the natural beauty of the Riverina region with a predominantly flat, tree-lined course following the scenic Murrumbidgee River. The marathon and half marathon start at Wagga City Council chambers on Baylis Street before winding along the riverbank, whilst the shorter distances begin at Riverside Precinct. All routes pass through the historic Victory Gardens and lush parklands, offering runners a perfect blend of natural serenity and local heritage. The courses feature wide shared pathways with minimal elevation change, making them ideal for personal bests. All distances finish at the welcoming Riverside Precinct near Wagga Beach, where kilometres of parkland provide a family-friendly celebration space with waterways and shared paths for post-race relaxation.

Getting There
The event is based at Riverside Precinct in central Wagga Wagga, easily accessible from the Sturt Highway. Marathon and half marathon participants start at Wagga City Council chambers on Baylis Street, a short walk from the finish area. Ample parking is available throughout the riverside parklands and surrounding streets. Wagga Wagga is located 460km southwest of Sydney via the Hume Highway, approximately 4.5 hours' drive. Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before your scheduled start time for registration and warm-up.

March in Wagga Wagga typically offers pleasant early autumn conditions, with mild to warm temperatures ranging from 12-27°C. Expect mostly sunny mornings with low humidity, making it ideal racing weather. Early starters for the marathon (7:15 AM) may experience cooler temperatures around 15°C, whilst later distances could face warmer conditions approaching midday. Pack sunscreen and a hat for sun protection, and plan your hydration strategy as temperatures can climb. Light, breathable running gear is recommended, with perhaps a throwaway layer for early morning starts.

Can I register on the day?
Yes, on-the-day registration is available at a higher fee ($211 marathon, $135 half marathon, $86 10km, $63.50 5km, $27.50 2km). Optional pre-registration is offered on Friday 6 March from 4-6pm at Wagga Civic Centre on Tarcutta Street. Early registration is recommended to secure better pricing.
How do race bibs work - are safety pins provided?
Elite Energy Events is going pin-free by 2026 as part of their green initiative. You can purchase reusable BibSnaps during registration or at the event, or bring your own safety pins if preferred. BibSnaps can be used for future races, making them an eco-friendly investment.
What is the 'Slow As Running Club' option?
This category is designed for participants wanting to slow jog, jog/walk, laugh and enjoy the experience with other relaxed-pace runners. Available for the half marathon and 10km distances, you must still complete the distance within the required cut-off time. It's priced the same as regular entry.
Are there cut-off times for the distances?
Yes, all distances have time limits to ensure course safety and support. Check the official website for specific cut-off times for each distance. The marathon starts earliest at 7:15 AM to allow adequate time for completion before support services close.
Is there support along the course?
Yes, water stations will be positioned along the courses, and the flat riverside route is easily accessible for medical and support crews. All finishers can enjoy the family-friendly Riverside Precinct atmosphere with presentations at 12:00 PM.
