Course Description

The Lake Macquarie Classic course launches from the lake’s shoreline, taking teams across fire‑trail mountain biking sections (15‑25 km) that climb over a footbridge before heading downhill, then onto rugged trail runs (5‑10 km) that hug rock platforms and tidal pools at Caves Beach. A 2‑4 km kayaking leg paddles on the lake right beside the start/finish. The Novice route trims the distances to 5‑15 km of biking, 3‑5 km of running and 1‑2 km of kayaking, offering fewer climbs while still showcasing coastal scenery. The Kids course is a gentle 1‑2 km run, 2‑4 km bike and 500 m kayak, marked with arrows and designed for families.
