Quick Facts
Getting There
The Stables Resort is located in Perisher Valley within Kosciuszko National Park, approximately 500km southwest of Sydney via the Snowy Mountains Highway. Drive via Cooma and Jindabyne, entering the park at Perisher. National park entry fees apply. Parking is available at the resort. Allow 6-7 hours driving from Sydney or 2 hours from Canberra. Registration opens Friday 3:00-6:00 PM, with race-day registration from 7:00 AM. Arrive early to collect your race bib and attend the mandatory pre-race briefing.
Weather & What to Pack
Mid-February in the Snowy Mountains brings unpredictable alpine conditions. Expect temperatures ranging from 8-22°C at lower elevations, dropping significantly at higher altitudes and on exposed ridges. Mountain weather can change rapidly—sunshine, wind, rain, and even snow are all possible. Strong UV exposure is common at altitude. Pack layers including windproof and waterproof gear. Carry sun protection, hat, and sunglasses. Hydration is critical despite cooler temperatures. Check the forecast closely and prepare for worst-case scenarios, as alpine conditions can turn challenging quickly.

What mandatory gear is required for alpine trail running?
While specific gear requirements will be confirmed closer to the event, expect mandatory items for alpine safety including water capacity, emergency shelter, first aid basics, nutrition, and weather-appropriate clothing. Check the official website for the complete gear list as alpine conditions demand proper preparation.
Are there aid stations on the courses?
Yes, professionally staffed aid stations provide water and energy drinks at strategic points along all courses. Given the remote alpine terrain and challenging distances, you should also carry your own hydration and nutrition between stations.
