About This Event

NSW Athletics' flagship road running event at Sydney Olympic Park, featuring the NSW Road Championships. Three distances — 2.5km, 5km, and AIMS-certified 10km — cater to all abilities, from first-timers to competitive club runners.

Course Description

The Sydney 10 unfolds on the wide boulevards and sealed roads of Sydney Olympic Park, the iconic precinct built for the 2000 Summer Olympics. The AIMS-certified 10km course is predominantly flat, making it a prime opportunity to chase a personal best on a fast, well-surfaced route. Runners pass landmarks including Stadium Australia and the Aquatic Centre, with the park's open spaces creating a grand race-day atmosphere. The 5km and 2.5km courses share similar terrain — smooth, flat, and runner-friendly — ensuring participants of all levels can enjoy the prestige of racing at one of Australia's most celebrated sporting venues. Excellent marshalling and clear course markings keep athletes on track throughout.

Weather & What to Pack

May sits in Sydney's early autumn, bringing mild and generally settled conditions well-suited to road racing. Expect morning temperatures of around 10–18°C at race time, with low humidity and minimal wind. It can feel cool at the start line, so bring a warm layer to discard before heading to the start. Light showers are possible in May, so check the forecast in the days leading up to the event and dress accordingly. Overall, conditions are favourable for fast times.
