Weather & What to Pack

Early August in Canberra brings cool to cold winter conditions. Expect morning temperatures around 0-5°C at the 6:00 AM start, warming to 10-14°C by midday. Canberra winters are typically dry with clear skies, though occasional cold fronts can bring rain or strong winds. Early starters will face pre-dawn darkness and potential frost. Dress in layers you can shed as you warm up - thermal base layers, long sleeves, and gloves are recommended for the start. Despite winter conditions, hydration remains critical during this 100km effort. Be prepared for changing conditions as you run through different elevations and exposed ridgelines.
