About This Event
Tasmania's iconic 43rd annual marathon starting and finishing at the Cadbury Chocolate Factory. A family-friendly event featuring distances for everyone from 1km to the full marathon.
Course Description
The Cadbury Marathon follows a scenic point-to-point course through Hobart's northern suburbs, starting and finishing at the iconic Cadbury Chocolate Factory in Claremont. Runners enjoy predominantly flat terrain along the Derwent River foreshore with stunning water views and gentle rolling sections through residential areas. The marathon and half marathon courses take in the picturesque Queens Domain and Tasman Bridge crossing, offering panoramic views of Mount Wellington and the Derwent estuary. The 10km, 5km, and 1km events follow an out-and-back route from the factory, making them ideal for spectators and family support. All distances finish at the factory where participants are rewarded with Cadbury chocolate treats, creating a memorable and uniquely Tasmanian race experience.

Weather & What to Pack
January is mid-summer in Tasmania, with Hobart typically experiencing mild to warm conditions. Expect temperatures between 12-22°C at the 6:00 AM start, warming throughout the morning. Tasmania's weather can be changeable, so be prepared for possible light rain or strong winds, particularly if southerly changes develop. The early start helps runners avoid the hottest part of the day. Wear light, breathable clothing and apply sunscreen. Hydration is essential - take advantage of all water stations on course, especially for longer distances.
