Course Description

The 24‑hour race launches from the Donnybrook foreshore overlooking Pumicestone Passage. Teams navigate a linear, mixed‑terrain course that weaves through coastal waterways, forest trails and open beaches. The Full course packs roughly 25–35 km of trekking, 60–70 km of mountain biking and 15–25 km of kayaking, while the Fairy Bells half‑course offers about half those distances. Transition areas provide brief respites for gear swaps and nutrition. The route is only revealed hours before the start, demanding strong navigation skills and self‑sufficiency. Expect rugged tracks, occasional water paddles and scenic coastal views that test endurance and teamwork.

Getting There

Race HQ is set on the Donnybrook foreshore, a short walk from the local caravan park and general store. Parking and public transport options are not detailed on the event page, so check the official website for the latest information and plan to arrive early to allow time for gear drop and registration.

Weather & What to Pack

August is winter in Queensland. Expect daytime highs around 22 °C and overnight lows near 10 °C, with very low rainfall. Conditions are generally mild but can be cool in the early morning and evening. Dress in layered, moisture‑wicking clothing and bring a waterproof jacket. Stay hydrated and protect against sun during the warmer daylight hours.
