Event Details
Course Description
The Freycinet Challenge weaves through the iconic Freycinet Peninsula, starting with a 17 km trail run (9 km for juniors) that hugs coastal cliffs and forest tracks. A 10 km sea kayak leg follows, paddling the crystal‑clear waters of Great Oyster Bay. Riders then transition to a 40 km road bike stretch on rolling hills before tackling a 17 km (14 km junior) mountain‑bike loop on rugged fire‑trails. Day two repeats the kayak, road bike and mountain bike sections, finishing with a 10 km trail run. Expect stunning ocean views, varied elevation, and a true test of endurance across mixed terrain.

Weather & What to Pack
October is spring in Tasmania, bringing mild temperatures typically between 10 °C and 18 °C with occasional rain and brisk coastal winds. Dress in layers – a breathable base, a wind‑proof jacket and waterproof shell – and wear sturdy trail shoes. Hydration is still essential despite cooler weather, so carry enough water and electrolyte supplies.
