Course Description

The 32 km courses start at the Hydro Tasmania Power Station and finish in historic Currie, weaving along sealed roads, coastal tracks and beachside sections. Runners will tackle gentle undulations, open ocean views, and occasional reef‑side detours, while walkers enjoy a flatter, well‑marked route. The mixed‑terrain layout offers both fast‑road sections for speed and softer sand stretches that test endurance. Finish lines are set against the backdrop of King Island’s harbour, providing a memorable finish after a varied coastal adventure.

Getting There

King Island has no regular public transport, so plan ahead. A dedicated bus will run from Currie to the various start lines – book your seat when you register. Most visitors hire a car from King Island Car Rental (pick‑up at the airport) to explore the island and reach the start area. Arrive early on race day to allow time for bus boarding or car travel and to collect your race packet.

Weather & What to Pack

March is autumn in Tasmania. Expect daytime highs around 20 °C and overnight lows near 13 °C, with generally mild humidity and plenty of sunshine. Dress in layers – a breathable base layer, a light jacket for the cooler morning, and a hat or visor for sun protection. Hydration is still important, but you won’t need heavy cold‑weather gear. A waterproof windbreaker is advisable in case of coastal breezes.
