Event Details
Course Description
The Capital to Coast spans 100 km across nine stages, beginning with a Friday prologue and followed by four stages on Saturday and four on Sunday. Each stage ranges from 8 km to 15 km and blends trail, fire‑road, single‑track and coastal beach sections, delivering varied scenery from the rolling hills around Canberra to the picturesque South Coast. Runners start each stage en masse, and times are summed across stages. Participants must arrange their own transport between stage finish and the next start and organise accommodation, with many opting to stay near Braidwood for the Saturday‑Sunday transition.
Getting There
The event starts in the Canberra region and finishes along the South Coast of NSW, with the main overnight stay near Braidwood. Specific parking locations, public transport options and recommended arrival times are not listed on the site, so runners should check the official Capital to Coast website for detailed directions, parking information and any suggested arrival windows.

Weather & What to Pack
August is winter in southern Australia, and the Canberra‑South Coast corridor typically sees average highs around 20 °C and lows near 7 °C, with occasional rain. Expect cool, potentially damp conditions, especially on exposed fire‑roads and coastal sections. Dress in layered, moisture‑wicking clothing, bring a warm insulated jacket, hat and gloves, and wear waterproof trail shoes. Hydration remains important even in cooler weather, so carry enough fluid and consider a insulated bottle to prevent freezing.
