Course Description
The Huff N' Puff Road Race offers two rail‑linked routes through the picturesque Wollondilly countryside. Runners start at Buxton Station for the 6.7km challenge or Couridjah Station for the 3.5km family run, then dash along quiet country roads toward Thirlmere Station. Along the way you’ll pass historic railway infrastructure, rolling farmland and native bushland, finishing at the NSW Rail Museum where a steam train awaits. The terrain is flat to gently rolling, making the courses fast yet scenic, and the steam‑engine backdrop adds a unique, motivating element to every stride.
Getting There
The race starts and finishes at the NSW Rail Museum in Thirlmere. Driving is the most flexible option, but parking is limited; street parking and a few wheelchair‑accessible spots are available near the museum. A free shuttle runs every 15 minutes between Tahmoor Station and the festival site (except 12:00‑13:00 when it runs every 30 minutes). Check the official website for the latest transport and parking details and aim to arrive early to secure a spot.

Weather & What to Pack
May in southern NSW is autumn, with mild to cool daytime temperatures typically ranging from 12 °C to 20 °C and a chance of light rain. Expect lower humidity and plenty of sunshine between showers. Dress in layers – a breathable t‑shirt, a light jacket, and a hat or gloves if you tend to feel cold. Wear comfortable running shoes and stay hydrated, even in cooler weather, as the morning can feel brisk.
