Course Description

The marathon is a four‑lap loop that starts at the Forster Main Beach precinct, winds past the ocean pool, climbs a gentle hill over Second Head onto a dirt track, then returns via the beach car park to the Breakwall. Runners cross the iconic Forster‑Tuncurry bridge, follow foreshore paths past the War Memorial and Rockpool Café, and loop back to the finish chute at Forster Beach. The half‑marathon repeats two laps of the same route. Both courses are 95 % flat with only one modest rise, offering coastal views, lake side sections and easy‑going surf‑side trails.

Getting There

Race day activities begin at the Forster Surf Club in Forster, NSW. Parking, public‑transport options and exact arrival recommendations are listed on the official Run Fest website, so be sure to check there and aim to arrive with plenty of time for bib collection and warm‑up.

Weather & What to Pack

August is winter in Australia, with typical daytime highs around 20 °C and overnight lows near 9 °C in Forster. Expect mild sunshine and occasional breezy conditions. Dress in layers – a breathable shirt, a light jacket or fleece, and a hat or gloves for early‑morning starts. Stay hydrated even in cooler weather, as the coastal breeze can be dehydrating.
