Course Description

The Brighton Running Festival courses are all road‑based, flat and fast. Starting from Decker Park on Twenty‑Fifth Avenue, the routes follow the picturesque waterfront towards Shorncliffe Pier, offering uninterrupted views of Moreton Bay. The Half Marathon and 10 km loops are measured at 21.1 km and 10 km respectively, while the 5 km and 2 km Family Dash stay close to the park’s scenic promenade. Expect well‑marked paths, occasional marshals, and a smooth surface that favours personal‑best attempts. Aid stations are positioned on the longer distances, and chip timing ensures accurate results.

Getting There

Decker Park sits at the corner of Twenty‑Fifth Avenue and Flinders Pde, Brighton, right before the Hornibrook Bridge. On‑site car parking is available at the park, with additional street parking nearby. Public transport options include the 690 bus (Sandgate ↔ Clontarf) and the 310 bus (Brisbane City ↔ Brighton), both stopping at Decker Park. The nearest train station is Sandgate, about a 40‑minute walk away. Arrive early to allow time for bib collection and the event village opening.

Weather & What to Pack

August is winter in Queensland. Typical daytime highs hover around 21 °C with overnight lows near 13 °C. Expect mild sunshine and low humidity, so dress in layers – a light jacket or long‑sleeve top for the start, with a breathable shirt for the run. Bring a water bottle or use the aid stations; the cooler temperatures mean you’ll stay hydrated without overheating.
