Course Description

The Not Butter weekend features a 5 km out‑and‑back trail loop at Oxley Creek Common, Brisbane. The surface is smooth and compacted dirt with minimal elevation change, skirting the creek’s banks and passing native parkland. The 24‑hour, 12‑hour and 6‑hour timed runs use this same loop, allowing participants to log as many laps as they can within the allotted time. On Sunday, “The Drop” offers three fixed‑distance options – 5km, 4km and 3km – each run over two laps with set‑time segments and short recovery periods, adding a tactical element to the fun‑focused event. Runners will enjoy views of the creek’s wetlands and the chance to mingle with fellow locals in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.

Getting There

Oxley Creek Common is located on the southern banks of the Brisbane River in Rocklea. From the city centre, take the Pacific Motorway (M3) south to the Oxley Creek exit, then follow signs to the park’s main carpark. Parking is free with limited spaces; arrive early to secure a spot. Public buses 108 and 108X stop nearby. Aim to be at the start line at least 30 minutes before the first race.

Weather & What to Pack

October is spring in Queensland, bringing warm, sunny days with occasional showers. Expect daytime highs between 22 °C and 28 °C and mild evenings around 16 °C. Humidity can be moderate, so dress in breathable, moisture‑wicking layers and a light hat. Sunscreen is essential, and carry water or a hydration pack, especially for the longer timed runs. Be prepared for brief rain‑spells that can make the trail a little slick.
