Course Description

The EVA Air Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival is based at Buhk Family Park on the beach at Alexandra Headlands, with all six events starting and finishing on Alexandra Parade. The AIMS-certified marathon and half marathon follow a new single-lap, predominantly flat road course through Twin Waters and Mudjimba, crossing the Sunshine Motorway Bridge twice for sweeping ocean views before returning to Alexandra Headlands. The Westpac 10km, Cricks 5km Run and Maroochy RSL 5km Walk share a shorter coastal loop, while the RMH 2km Mini Marathon is a flat, family-friendly course suited to first-timers and children. Aid stations, toilets and pacers support the marathon, half marathon and 10km, and the whole precinct has a festival atmosphere with live entertainment and a carpet finish line.

Getting There

The event precinct is at Buhk Family Park, right on the beach at Alexandra Headlands. Parking near the precinct is limited and restricted; public carparks on Sunshine Coast Parade and Cornmeal Parade, Maroochydore, are 2.3-2.4km away, and a Park n Ride shuttle bus runs from five locations. Free supervised bike parking is available if you pre-register. Sunshine Coast Airport is about 15 minutes' drive away, and Brisbane roughly 60 minutes south.

Weather & What to Pack

Early August falls in the Sunshine Coast's winter, with average temperatures ranging from around 10-21°C and race-morning starts typically cool, around 12-15°C. Days are usually mild, dry and sunny with low humidity, though mornings and the ocean breeze at Alexandra Headlands can feel brisk. Dress in light layers you can shed after the start, and note that UV can still be moderate on a clear winter day, so sunscreen is worthwhile for the shorter, later-starting events.
