Course Description
Rumble in the Jungle starts and finishes at the Eastern Dorrigo Community Hall in Ulong, sending runners into the rainforest of Bindarri National Park on a mix of forest roads, management trails and rainforest singletrack. The longer distances pass real course landmarks including Bangalore Falls, Urumbilum Falls, the Mt Wondurrigah lookout and Battery Falls, with the 100km's remote back section featuring a steep descent to "The Confluence", where the Bobo River meets the Little Nymboida River. Elevation climbs from around 165m of gain on the 8km up to roughly 3,000m on the full 100km, so distances get progressively more technical and demanding. Expect creek crossings, fern-lined gullies and genuine wilderness underfoot, all supported from the community hall as a friendly, well-organised base.
Getting There
The race starts and finishes at Eastern Dorrigo Community Hall, Ulong, NSW. On-site parking is on the oval for early arrivals (before 7am), with overflow parking in the paddock opposite Ulong Cafe (~500m walk) for later arrivals; follow the parking marshals. An optional return bus ($20) runs for 30km, 21km and 8km runners and spectators from McLean Street Oval, Coffs Harbour. On-site camping is available Friday and Saturday nights ($10/person; tents, swags and campervans welcome; no caravans).

Weather & What to Pack
August in Ulong is winter, with typical daytime highs around 18 °C and night lows dropping to about 4 °C. Expect cool, crisp mornings and the possibility of light rain in the rainforest. Dress in layers – a moisture‑wicking base, insulating mid‑layer and a wind‑proof jacket – plus a hat and gloves for early starts. Bring enough water and consider an electrolyte drink, as cooler temperatures reduce sweat but hydration remains essential.

Official WebsiteFrequently Asked Questions
How do I register for the Rumble in the Jungle?
Registration is handled through the official race website's online entry form. Entry fees are listed per distance, and the 100km Ultra has a qualification requirement, so check the site for current details before entering.
What time does each distance start?
Distances start in waves through the morning, from the 100km Ultra at 6:30am through to the 1km Kids/Family run around 11:30am. Confirm exact wave times on the official website closer to race day, as the site's schedule was last confirmed for the previous edition.
What mandatory gear is required?
Requirements scale with distance. The 100km and 50km Ultras require items such as a live GPS tracker (100km), at least 1L hydration capacity, a snake bandage, emergency food, a space blanket, a whistle, warm layers, a headtorch with backup, a hi-vis vest and a mobile phone with the AVENZA and Emergency Plus apps installed. Shorter distances require a reduced kit, with the 8km needing just a phone with the required apps. Gear is checked at bib collection.
Is there parking and camping at the venue?
Yes. Parking is on the oval at Eastern Dorrigo Community Hall (early arrivals) or a nearby paddock (later arrivals, ~500m walk), directed by marshals. On-site camping is available Friday and Saturday nights for $10 per person (tents, swags and campervans welcome; no caravans or trailers), with tank water, toilets, a BBQ and kitchen, but no hot showers.
What is the refund or cancellation policy?
Refunds or deferrals on entry fees and merchandise (excluding booking fees) are available up until roughly a month before race day; check the official website for the exact current-year cut-off date. Deferrals only carry over to the next running of the event and aren't transferable. No refunds are given on donations.
