About This Event

Complete as many laps as you can in 2 hours at Albert Park's Lakeside Stadium, raising funds for MND Victoria. Run, walk or roll — two waves available for all fitness levels. Includes t-shirt, medal, live music and food trucks.

Course Description

The Great MND Relay takes place on the iconic circuit at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park, one of Melbourne's most recognisable sporting venues. Participants complete as many laps of the course as possible within a 2-hour window, with the lap count symbolising the 2 Australians diagnosed with MND every single day. The flat, sealed course is suitable for runners, walkers, pram-pushers and wheelchair participants alike. Electronic lap tracking by Tomato Timing Technology keeps count of every lap completed. With the Albert Park lake as your backdrop and a buzzing event village cheering you on, this is a course that rewards effort and community spirit in equal measure.

Getting There

Lakeside Stadium is located on Aughtie Drive, Albert Park, approximately 3km from Melbourne CBD. Tram routes 1, 3/3a and 5/6/16/64/67/72 stop near the park — alight at Aquatic Drive or Albert Park stops. Street parking is available around the perimeter of Albert Park, though spaces fill early on event day. Aim to arrive at least 30 minutes before your wave start to collect your participant pack.

Weather & What to Pack

Melbourne in mid-May sits firmly in autumn, with cool to mild conditions typical for race day. Expect temperatures ranging from around 10–17°C, with a chance of morning fog or light showers. Layering is recommended — a lightweight long-sleeve base layer and a wind-resistant jacket are ideal. The course is exposed around the lake, so a hat or buff can help in gusty conditions. Carry a water bottle as a precaution, though on-site hydration will be available.
