About This Event

Off-road challenge incorporating steep single tracks and fire trails. The course is singletrack heaven, packed with long, grindy climbs, smooth-flowing MTB trails, and the infamous Powerlines descent. Part of Riverina Trail Running Series Round 2.

Course Description

The Albury Ranges course delivers technical singletrack excellence across the rugged terrain of West Albury's ranges. The long course covers 14.8km with 435m of elevation gain, featuring extended grinding climbs through native bushland, smooth-flowing mountain bike trails, and the notorious 'Powerlines' descent that tests quad strength and technical skill. The short course offers 5km with 180m of elevation, providing a taste of the challenging terrain without the full distance. Both routes navigate steep single tracks, fire trails, and varied technical sections, making this one of the most exhilarating rounds in the Riverina Trail Running Series. The mix of sustained climbs and fast descents demands both endurance and technical agility.

Weather & What to Pack

Late May in Victoria brings cool to mild autumn conditions, with temperatures typically ranging from 6-16°C. Mornings can be crisp, particularly at the 8:00 AM start time, with potential for light fog in the ranges. The trail environment provides natural shelter but can be muddy if recent rain has occurred. Layer up with long sleeves and consider gloves for the early start. The technical terrain and elevation gain will generate heat, so dress in breathable layers you can adjust. Hydration remains important despite cooler temperatures, especially on the long course with its sustained climbs.
