About This Event
A charity fun run and walk along Brisbane's Southbank in honour of Professor Richard Scolyer AO, raising funds for brain cancer research. Open to all — delegates, families, and friends welcome.
Course Description
The course takes runners and walkers through the scenic Southbank precinct and surrounds, following a round-trip route starting from Kurilpa Point Park on the Brisbane River. Runners tackle the full 5km loop while walkers enjoy a 2.5km out-and-back option. Expect flat, paved paths through one of Brisbane's most beloved riverside parklands, with views of the Story Bridge and city skyline as the sun rises over the river. The early morning start keeps conditions cool and pleasant. Suitable for all fitness levels, the route is walker-friendly and stroller-accessible, making it a wonderful community occasion to support a meaningful cause.
Quick Facts
Getting There
Kurilpa Point Park sits on the south bank of the Brisbane River, easily reached via the Kurilpa Bridge from the CBD. Take the train to South Brisbane or South Bank stations (both a short walk away). Street parking is available on nearby roads, though early arrival is recommended. Bus routes along Grey Street service the precinct. Allow 15–20 minutes before the 6:45 AM start.
Weather & What to Pack
Late May in Brisbane brings mild autumn conditions — expect morning temperatures of around 14–20°C with low humidity, making it ideal for running. May is generally dry with clear skies, though a light layer is recommended at the 6:45 AM start as it can feel cool before the sun rises fully. Sunscreen is still advisable once the sun is up. Carry a water bottle for the walk option; water may not be provided on course.
