About This Event
Run 21km of rugged bushland at Lake Parramatta Reserve, with waterfalls, eucalypt canopies and natural trail challenges – perfect for adventurous runners seeking a scenic Sydney trail experience.
Course Description
The 21km Sydney Trail Half Marathon follows a purpose‑built trail through Lake Parramatta Reserve. Runners start beneath towering eucalypts, descend to creek crossings, and tackle gentle climbs before reaching a series of small waterfalls that add visual interest and occasional technical footing. The route loops back through open bushland, offering panoramic views of the Parramatta River valley. Well‑marked signage and aid stations are positioned at regular intervals, and the finish line sits near the reserve’s main picnic area, providing a comfortable spot to cool down after the trail adventure.
Quick Facts
Getting There
Lake Parramatta Reserve is a 10‑minute drive north of Parramatta CBD. Free parking is available at the reserve car‑park near the main entrance. From Parramatta Train Station take bus 909 (or 802) to the Lake Parramatta stop, then walk 5 minutes to the start line. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to collect your bib and warm up.
Weather & What to Pack
July is winter in Australia, so expect cool conditions at Lake Parramatta Reserve. Typical daytime highs are around 18 °C with overnight lows near 6 °C. Light rain is possible, so dress in layers—thermal base, wind‑proof jacket, and a hat or gloves for early‑morning starts. Hydration is still important; carry a small water bottle even in cooler weather.
