Course Description

The festival’s road races follow the sealed South Burnett Rail Trail, a smooth bitumen path that winds through rolling farmland and passes the historic Wondai Art Gallery. The two Saturday forest trail options start at the same rail‑trail launch point behind Wondai Town Hall and head into the adjoining McEuen Forest, offering undulating terrain under towering Spotted Gum and wattle woodlands. The 11.1 km “Go Getta Girls” run and the 21.1 km “Yesbergs” trail are cross‑country courses with gentle climbs and technical sections, while the Sunday marathon, half‑marathon and rail‑trail 5 km/10 km routes stay on the flat, well‑maintained surface. Road crossings are staffed by the SES, and regular water stations and portable toilets are positioned along each course.

Getting There

All races start behind Wondai Town Hall in the centre of town, with free parking available nearby. Bibs are collected Friday 3–6 pm and Saturday 8 am–4 pm at the Art Gallery studio. Arrive early to secure a parking spot and check the official website for the latest transport options and any road closures.

Weather & What to Pack

In late June Wondai experiences winter weather, with daytime highs usually ranging from 15 °C to 18 °C and overnight lows dropping to 5 °C–8 °C. Expect clear skies and low humidity, but early morning chill can be brisk. Runners should dress in layers – a moisture‑wicking base, a light fleece or jacket, and a hat or gloves for the start. Even in cooler conditions stay hydrated; a small water bottle or the on‑course stations will keep you comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does registration open and how can I sign up?

Registration opens in January 2027. You can register online through the festival’s website once the portal opens.

Where and when can I collect my race bib?

Bib collection is available on the Friday before the race from 3 pm to 6 pm, and on Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm at the Art Gallery studio. If you need a different collection time, arrange it with the organisers.

What gear is required for the forest trail runs?

The forest trail runs are cross‑country, so we recommend trail‑running shoes with good grip, optional gaiters, and a small water bottle. No mandatory gear beyond standard running attire is required.

Are there water stations and first‑aid support on the courses?

Yes – regular drink stations and portable toilets are positioned along each route, and first‑aid stations are available in Wondai and on the courses, with road crossings staffed by the SES.

Can I get a refund if I need to cancel my entry?

The website does not list a specific refund policy. Please check the official event website or contact the organisers directly for details on cancellations and refunds.
