Course Description

The Highlands Running Festival follows the fully pathed Bong Bong Common Track, winding along the scenic banks of the Wingecarribee River in the Southern Highlands. The course is entirely on sealed paths, making it a fast and runnable route suitable for all levels. Expect flat to gently undulating terrain with lush riverside scenery and open common land. Water stations with both water and Tailwind Nutrition are positioned throughout, ensuring you stay fuelled across the 2 km, 5 km, 10 km, and Half Marathon distances. The landscape offers a refreshing contrast to city racing — cool air, open skies, and the natural beauty of the NSW Southern Highlands.

Getting There

The event village at Oxley College Bray Fields, Burradoo is accessible by car or bicycle only — no public transport operates on Sunday mornings in the area. Parking is available on-site at Oxley College and in surrounding residential streets. Bib collection opens at 7:00 AM; allow extra time to park and warm up before your event start.

Weather & What to Pack

Late March in the Southern Highlands means early autumn conditions at around 700 metres elevation. Expect cool, crisp mornings with temperatures typically between 10°C and 20°C, warming pleasantly through the day. Morning mist is common in the Wingecarribee valley. Layers are recommended at the start line — a light jacket over race kit works well. Conditions are generally ideal for running, though a light rain jacket is worth packing in your bag.
