Course Description
True Grit SA delivers a military-inspired obstacle course experience set against the rugged and iconic Barossa landscape. This brand-new location features challenging terrain designed to test both physical endurance and mental grit across 5km or 10km distances. Expect to tackle signature obstacles including the Big Climb, A-Frame, Traverse Ropes, Monkey Bars, and multiple wall challenges. The course weaves through muddy sections with pontoon bridges, sandbag carries, and tyre walls that demand teamwork and determination. With 13+ purpose-built obstacles designed specifically for this location, participants will run, crawl, and climb through South Australia's wine country while pushing their limits in an unforgettable outdoor challenge suitable for all fitness levels.

Getting There
The event is held at Barossa Helicopters, 261 Hoffnungsthal Road, Lyndoch SA 5315, approximately 60km northeast of Adelaide in the Barossa Valley. On-site parking is available for $10 per vehicle (cash or card accepted at the gate), with special areas for mini-buses and coaches. Plan to arrive approximately 45 minutes before your wave start time to allow for check-in and preparation. Bring your confirmation email or a screenshot as internet reception may be limited.
Weather & What to Pack
May in the Barossa Valley brings mild autumn conditions with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 12-20°C. Mornings can be crisp with temperatures around 8-10°C at the 8:00 AM elite start. Expect partly cloudy skies with a chance of light rain. The event recommends long pants or leggings and long socks for protection during obstacles, along with light layers that you can warm up in. Running or hiking shoes are sufficient for the course. Bring a water bladder to stay hydrated throughout the event, though water stations are provided on course.

What's included in my entry fee?
You'll receive access to all obstacles, water stations during the event, access to medical treatment, a finisher t-shirt, and Staminade electrolyte drink on completion. Bag drop is available for a gold coin donation, and spectators enter for free.
What's the minimum age to participate?
The 5km event is open to ages 12+, while the 10km and Elite events are for ages 16+. All participants under 18 require a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
Can I participate as part of a team?
Yes! You can create a team and invite friends, family, or gym crew. Teams can help each other through obstacles. Solo participants are encouraged to join the Black Dog Wave at 9:20 AM to meet like-minded participants and tackle the course together.
What's the difference between Elite and regular waves?
Elite participants start at 8:00 AM on Saturday, get first access to the course, and have their times recorded for the leaderboard. Top 3 male and female finishers receive prizes. Elites have a 20-burpee penalty for failed or skipped obstacles, while regular participants can attempt obstacles without penalties.
