Running event in South Australia.
Course Description
No Time To Die Frontyard Ultra takes place on a 6.71km loop course through Victoria Park in the heart of Adelaide. This unique backyard ultra format requires runners to complete one lap every hour, on the hour, for as long as they can continue. The relatively flat course features a modest 76m elevation gain per lap, winding through Adelaide's iconic parklands. With an aid station at the start/finish line and dedicated crew areas, the course is spectator-friendly and accessible. As day turns to night and back again, runners navigate the same familiar loop, where mental fortitude becomes as crucial as physical endurance. The urban park setting provides a supportive atmosphere while testing the limits of human determination.
Quick Facts
Getting There
Victoria Park is located in Adelaide's eastern parklands, easily accessible from the CBD. The park is bounded by Dequetteville Terrace and Fullarton Road. Street parking is available around the park perimeter, with additional parking on nearby residential streets. Public transport options include buses along Fullarton Road and the nearby Botanic Gardens tram stop. Arrive well before the 12:00 PM start to allow time for registration, gear setup in your designated crew area, and pre-race preparation.
Weather & What to Pack
May in Adelaide marks the transition into winter, with pleasant mild conditions ideal for endurance running. Expect daytime temperatures ranging from 11°C to 19°C, though overnight laps will be significantly cooler, potentially dropping to single digits. Rainfall averages 67mm across the month, so be prepared for wet conditions. Pack layers for temperature regulation as you run through the night - a light jacket or arm warmers for evening laps, and a headlamp is mandatory after dark. The mild autumn weather reduces heat stress concerns, but hydration remains essential throughout the event.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a backyard ultra format work?
Runners complete a 6.71km loop every hour, on the hour. You must finish each lap and be ready to start the next one when the clock strikes 60 minutes. The race continues until only one runner remains - there is no predetermined finish. If you don't start a lap, you're out.
Can I bring crew or set up my own aid station?
Yes, runners can set up their own table with personal supplies in designated crew areas. A main aid station at the start/finish provides water, Bix Hydration, Coke, savoury snacks, lollies, and soup during overnight hours. Bring your own cup or hydration vessel.
What gear do I need to carry?
No mandatory gear is required during daylight laps since the aid station is accessible every 6.71km. However, a headlamp is mandatory for night-time laps. Recommended items to have ready in your crew area include hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, rain jacket, and extra water depending on conditions.
Are pacers allowed?
No, pacers are not permitted at any stage of No Time To Die Frontyard Ultra. This is a solo endeavour where each runner must complete every lap unaccompanied.
What if I need to withdraw from the race?
Simply don't start the next lap when your corral is called. There's no shame in stopping - the format is designed to push everyone to their limit. Refunds are not available, but transfers are permitted subject to terms in the Race Manual.
